Houston-dwellers Julia and Christian chose to celebrate their wedding in Austin on Lake Travis so they could provide their guests with a destination feel. Their wedding day was truly made special by their guests that traveled from near and far to share in the occasion.

The wedding theme was inspired by the Bride and Groom’s heritage, she being English and he being Colombian. The ceremony took place at Nature’s Point’s beautiful outdoor arbor and English garden, which was complimented by white roses and Royal purple orchids provided by Bouquets of Austin. When it came time for the bride to walk down the aisle, good fortune was showered on the couple (literally!!) when a rain storm moved through the area. Lindsay Blackwell from In Her Shoes Coordination moved the the couple's guests swiftly and efficiently back inside, the ceremony was quickly reset and the bride had the pleasure of walking down the aisle a second time. The ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour where English fish & chips and Colombian empanadas (the groom’s own recipe!) were the featured hors d’oeuvres from Austin Catering. Day turned into evening when the vibrant and colorful reception began. The happy couple, along with all their family and friends, danced the night away to an array of Salsa and Colombian music by Houston's DJ Johnny Black.

The wedding was described by many as magical and unforgettable, and the couple say they could not agree more.

(Almost) Just Married! at Nature's Point!

9.29.12 –5:09pm.

Julia was upset and cried for nearly 2 weeks, the weather man had been predicting the worst case scenario for a long while. On September 29th it rained early, but the clouds parted and everyone reported to Julia that it looked like everything was going to be fine. About 4:40 thunderheads rolled in and started rumbling, but still not rain. The guests were assembled and Julia began her decent to the alter, the first drops started falling, by the time she got to the alter it was a full fledged monsoon. Thanks to the quick thinking of In Her Shoes and the staff of Nature's Point, guest were moved in covered groups back to the terrace, starting with the beaming Julia. The room was flipped in seconds and take two began. The rain was barely a blip at the end of the night, their wedding was beautiful and so packed with love. They know in 40 years years they will have an heroic tale to tell about their wedding day.

Kim and Larry were wed at the absolutely stunning Natures Point on the lake. I'm sure I've said it about 4 million times, once more couldn't hurt, Texas has the most beautiful clouds. It has yucky heat and it's scary to fly into Austin in the summer but it is all worth it for those clouds. Unreal! I love Texas clouds. I have lived in and have been to many many places, but I have never seen clouds like these. They were out in spades for Kim and Larry's wedding. They make for a completely unblemished back-drop for the couples vows.
